At the end of July of this year, members of CAP LIFE LAT team embarked on an experience exchange visit to Denmark, in order to strengthen their knowledge and raise awareness of the implementation process of the LIFE Programme projects.

 

On the first day of the visit, the representatives of CAP LIFE LAT team together with the representatives of the Danish National Contact Point, went to the teritory of Danish LIFE project Helnæs to look at the site and the results of the project, and to exchange experience on the implementation of other LIFE projects and the challenges of maintaining their results. Latvian and Danish colleagues shared experience on how LIFE project teams address the challenges they face at different stages of project implementation.

 

On the second day of the visit, both parties visited teritory of Danish LIFE project LIFE70, to familiarise themselves with the methods of restoring high-quality grasslands to their natural state, as well as to exchange knowledge on various sources of funding for the environment and climate, their availability to EU member states, and to discuss the promotion of the LIFE Programme in the wider community. Various communication channels, training and counselling of project preparers in Latvia and Denmark were also discussed.

 

The issues raised during the journey made it possible to compare the experience of implementing LIFE projects in both countries, to learn from best practices and to look for solutions to existing problems. Connecting the expertise of CAP LIE LAT team with the experience of its Danish counterparts will allow further improvement of the quality of advice provided to LIFE project applicants.
